Mayor Adams addresses Residential Conversion in the District

Yesterday, as part of a city-wide initiative with a focus on midtown Manhattan and the Garment District, the Mayor announced a suite of initiatives that will facilitate potential conversions from office and manufacturing uses to residential.

The efforts, which will kick off this fall, include a study of the Garment District to determine what is needed to allow conversions and an interagency accelerator program which will serve as a “concierge service” to help expedite conversion applications.

During the press conference the Mayor, along with State Assemblyman Tony Simone, Borough President Mark Levine, and Councilmembers Erik Bottcher and Keith Powers, said that they would continue to urge Governor Hochul and the state legislature to provide support for these efforts.

You can read more about this effort from the Mayor's office or in the numerous articles below.
